Full-day visit to Viña del Mar and Valparaíso:
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Valparaíso. It is Chile’s main port city and one of the most important South Pacific sea ports. The different and huge international immigration transformed the local culture from Spanish origins and Amerindian origins into its unique architecture and design. Their buildings reflected a variety of European styles, making Valparaíso more varied than some other Chilean cities. In August 18, 1906, Valparaiso was hit by a major earthquake. There was extensive property damage and thousands of deaths. After visiting the port, you will enjoy the beauty of Viña del Mar. It’s often referred as “La Ciudad Jardín” (“The Garden City”). Viña del Mar is known for its placid resorts, malls, extensive coastal high buildings, hotels and various entertainment venues. The city attracts an important influx of national as well as international visitors throughout the year. After the tour at the port, our guide will show you Viña del Mar. Return to Santiago in the afternoon. Overnight in Santiago.
OPTIONAL 2
Full day Santa Rita Vineyard:
After breakfast, your tour will start departing from Santiago to the Maipo Valley. This place will surprise you with the stunning beauty and countryside landscapes. The valley includes over 7,302 acres (2,955 ha) of vineyards, more than half of which are dedicated to producing Cabernet Sauvignon or Cabernet blends. It is a historic wine-producing region and the birthplace of the Chilean wine industry. It started over more than 150 years ago. The Maipo Valley can be divided in three sub-regions: Alto Maipo, Central Maipo, and Pacific Maipo. You will be stopping in Santa Rita Vineyard. It was founded in 1880 by Domingo Fernández Concha, who introduced fine French wine stocks which originated his wine making. The winery mixes traditional French oak barrels and American oak barrels, with state-of-the-art systems, that provides a unique flavor. The owner’s house rises imposingly amidst a 40-hectares park where there are old-centennial trees. Afterwards you will see the monument “Doña Paula” named in honour of Paula Jaraquemada, a woman who gave shelter, during the Independence time, to the General Bernardo O’Higgins and 120 of his soldiers.
