CERRO LEONERA - UP TOUR

After breakfast, you will start your trip to Valle Nevado. It is a ski resort located on the El Plomo foothills in the Andes Mountains, at 46 km to the east of Santiago. It was founded in 1988 and includes housing facilities along with around 800 hectares of skiing area. The trekking starts at La Leonera. Cerro Leonera is the easiest high altitude mountain near Santiago and Its summit of almost 5000 meters. It makes this mountain a great and fast acclimatization peak before climbing one of the biggest mountains of this Andean region (Aconcagua, Tupungato, etc). You will follow the route to Leonera from the southeast ridge. It has no climbing steps (just a walk-up) but is very exposed to the strong north and west winds, so it can be very cold, even in summer, and the altitude can be a problem. We’ll do a brief stop at Cerro Falsa Parva for Lunch and continues the trekking in the route. On arrival to base camp, you will have dinner and rest. Overnight in the base camp in Cerro Leonera. FREE NIGHT Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

When on the top, our guide will do a stop for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, your journey continues into the Descent to Valle Nevado, it is easier then the ascendant but it will need careful attention along the way. After lunch with some typical Chilean food, you will have time to relax and experience the life around you. Afterwards you will go back to Santiago. During this journey, you will stop at lookout points for panoramic views of the Santiago Valley, Casablanca, the central coast line, Aconcagua and Cajón del Maipo. Return to your hotel. BIKE AND HORSE RIDE

After breakfast your trip starts at El Rodeo Avenue. You will take the magical route in the Andean foothills of La Dehesa(a suburban neighborhood in Santiago) by mountain biking. It is believed that the first human group to be discovered there were mainly hunter–gatherer nomads. It is supposed that they arrived in Santiago in approximately 10,000 BC. The area was controlled by the Inca and by the Spanish during the seventeenth century. In 1964 there was discovery of important archaeological materials, some of the most important of which were five tembetás, Aconcagua salmón and a fragmented pipe of Mapuche origin. The area was previously called Huayco, an Inca word that meant: “Place of serious inundations”. When at the top, our guide you’ll stop for a snack and rest. Before starting the downhill trek you will lunch at a local restaurant, and then return to the hotel for resting. In the afternoon, you will be guided to La Dehesa International Club. There you’ll find horses assigned. Your ride starts taking riders through vistas of La Dehesa Lagoon and the Andean range leading to your final destination at the centre of the club. A barbeque, a good appetizer, salads, drinks and more will be waiting there. You will then return to the starting point and then back to the hotel. Overnight in Santiago.
