After breakfast you will be transfer to the Pantanal of Nhecolândia. In this tour package you have 02 options of transport to get at Baia das Pedras Ranch: by 4×4 vehicles (some months of the year – dry season) or by airplane all year long. The transport by 4×4 vehicles is a great adventure and an unforgettable trip; by land you will drive for about 295km crossing the Maracaju hills, grassland fields, forest, bays and rivers of Pantanal. Depending of the time of the year the trip will take between 05 to 08 hours. In the wet season is not possible get in the ranch by 4×4 vehicles because all the roads and tracks are flooded. The transport by airplane is the main access to Baia das Pedras and the charter flights provide a panoramic view of the Pantanal and are available to fly all year round. You can choose a flight directly from Campo Grande (around 01 hour flying) or fly from Aquidauana (2 hours by car + 30 minutes). Check in at the Pousada and free time to walk around of the ranch. After dinner, Night Tour – the trip is done in 4×4 vehicles, where you use a silibim (powerful flashlight) to observe alligators and other nocturnal animals. Definitely a special way of seeing and hearing the Pantanal, especially when turns off the jeep and the light, the feeling is a lot of peace and tranquility. Usually the activities are done early in the morning and late in the afternoon because in the middle of the day is very hot and really difficult to spot wildlife. Enjoy your free time to read a book, relax in a hammock and appreciate the nature sounds. • Hiking: it takes place in the vicinity of the farm and in the woods, with typical vegetation of the Pantanal: ridges (cordilleras), woods (capões), flood plains and savannah environments that shelter animals and plants in the region. There are highly specialized field guides to assist you during the tour. The trails take visitors to special places as a landing area of macaws. There is a trail that serves as a way to bees and other bordering Vazante castle, perfect to watching the sunset. The tour can vary from 1 to 04 hours according to the capacity of each group and the environmental conditions of the Pantanal. • Canoeing Tour: The Fazenda has handicraft canoes made up of “ximbuva” wood (Enterolobium contortisiliqum) by people from Corumba, South Mato Grosso. The piranha fishing tours are on Guanandy bay, Baía das Pedras bay and drain of Castelo. Birds, caimans and mammals go frequently to the bays mainly in the early hours of the day and sunset. Horseback ride – Pantaneiro horses, raised at the Ranch, are excellent for tours on the surrounding of the forests and drains as the Drain of Castelo. This place has the biggest concentration of trees and a lot of animals can find shelter and food all over. The Pantaneiro horses are rustic and completely adaptable to the wetlands – when the rain season starts (from November up to March) the horses have to look for food on the flooded areas. The people interested can follow the cowboys when they are doing their daily work and witness their talent roping and handling the cattle. Jeep Safari – In this tour will be used a customized 4×4 vehicle especially for outdoor drives to explore the beautiful areas of Pantanal with some comfort. By “jeep” you can get in some areas that are difficult to access on a walk or by horse. It is a great way for you to explore the area if you come with children or have limited mobility. This tour is an opportunity to learn a little bit more of the Pantanal culture. You do a ride by 4×4 vehicles (some months of the year – dry season) where the trip will take from 5 to 8 hours passing for the following places: • Refugio da Ilha Lodge is a cozy farm´s old house proper for the real needs of those who visit the wildlife without dispensing good comfort, hygiene and great local cuisine. Situated on an island formed by two arms of the river, Refúgio da Ilha is on the verge of the crystalline-watered Salobra River, in the Salobra River Delta- wedged between the northern Bodoquena Plateau and Miranda River. The ecological lodge is also home to a cattle ranch and offers daily tours to their guests in one of the most rich and abundant ecosystems on planet. • Refúgio da Ilha offers a limited number of beds, which makes the place more private, with more select audience, quiet environment and high quality of service, since the owners are the hosts of the house.
