Peru Andean Route Tour

On arrival at Lima you will be assisted and transferred to your Hotel. Overnight in Lima. FREE NIGHT.

After breakfast you will be transferred to the Airport. On arrival in Iquitos you’ll be assisted and transferred to your hotel. Boat Cruise: In the afternoon, you will travel to the Bellavista Port, where you will do a boat cruise in a speedboat arriving into the Heliconia Lodge along the Amazon River. During this boat ride, you will have the opportunity to observe the convergence of the brown turbid waters of the Amazon River with the dark waters of the Nanay River. You will enjoy the impressive jungle landscapes with the rustic small houses of the riverside towns. Afterwards, you will visit a native community. In this community, you will have the opportunity to hear about their way of life and to see their customs, dances and handcrafts. Later, you will take a jungle hike into the Yanamono Reserve (Considered as a primary rainforest reserve). For approximately 2 hours accompanied by our expert guides, you will be able to identify several botanical species such as heliconia flowers, medicinal plants and giant trees such as the White silk-cotton tree (Ceiba Pentandra) whose dimensions are so big that 25 persons can circle it holding their hands. During this excursion you will also see several birds’ species such as the Turkey Vulture, Black Fronted Nanbird etc. Also, you may see small monkeys such as marmosets, the Titi Monkey and the squirrel monkey. Then you will return to the lodge for rest and Dinner. After observing the Amazon Sunset, you will take a night boat ride to a stream, if the river is high enough, along the Amazon River where you will enjoy the magical sounds of the jungle, the light of the moon or, if it is a clear night, you will observe the stars and constellations. After the breakfast, you will start very early going by boat to one of the several streams (if the water level allows). You will be able to see birds such as the Tuki, Ringed Kingfisher, Black-Collared Hawk, etc. After a little rest, you will take a small fishing trip into small tributaries of the Amazon River. The most daring can try for fishing Piranhas. During this excursion, you can also have the opportunity to appreciate for the famous Pink River Dolphin. Return to the Lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will see the very impressive giant Victoria Regia plant on the lakes inside the Yanamono Island (if the water allows us). At night, you will take a hike around the perimeter of the Lodge to look for tarantulas, fireflies, bats and other jungle nocturnal animals. Overnight in Iquitos Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, you will visit a rustic sugar cane distillery where you can try different exotic beverages made from sugar cane liquor and you will see how they use horses in the process of obtaining this liquor. After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport. On arrival in Cuzco, you will be assisted and transferred to your Hotel City Tour: In the afternoon, you will start a walking city tour. The journey starts visiting the Pre-Columbian Art Museum, the only museum in Peru dedicated to rebound the arts of ancient Peruvian cultures. The collection of 450 master pieces dated from 1250 B.C to.1532 A.D. Continuing your tour, you will see the Cathedral, the Main Square, the Korikancha temple. After, you will visit to the Inca ruins of Tambomachay, Kenko, Puca-Pucara and Sacsayhuaman’s gigantic zigzag-walled fortress. Return to your hotel. Overnight in Cuzco. Free Night. Meals: Breakfast

Your tour will visit The Sacred Valley of the Incas. The first stop is at Awanacancha, a small complex to admire Andean camelids such as alpacas and llamas. Also, learn from local inhabitants about traditional dyeing and knitting techniques. Later, you will explore the Pisac Market and be able to buy handcrafts, taste something traditional food and stop by the wood ovens. Stop to lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, your tour continues to Ollantaytambo, a small colorful town and inhabited since Inca times. There, you will visit the main temple used as a fortress during the Inca resistance. After breakfast, you will visit an Andean Community, in the Sacred Valley. There, you will discover their culture, social organization system, ancestral practices of organic agricultural production and the shepherding of alpacas and llamas. You will receive by farming families of the community, with whom you will have a chance to talk, share their roof and enjoy the typical local gastronomy. You will understand their communal organizational system, participate in traditional farming activities and visit the women weavers. Return to the hotel. Overnight in Sacred Valley. Free Night. After breakfast, you will be guided to the citadel of Machu Picchu. You will take the road to Machu Picchu with a spectacular view of the Urubamba River and canyon. The Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, will astonish you with terraces, ceremonial shrines, steps and urban areas. You will be able to feel the Energy around this magicical place. You will follow up the steps carved into the rock of the mountain and get in Intihuatana (“the highest point of the Sun”), which served as a solar calendar that regulate planting and harvesting, are tangible and concrete expression of the deep knowledge and technological advancement of the empire. After, you will stop for lunch at one restaurant in the area. After lunch, you will return to Cusco and transfer to hotel. Overnight in Cuzco. Free Night Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

After breakfast you will be transferred to the bus station. You will take an all-day bus from Cusco to Puno. The route is scenically stunning, and there are stops at cultural sites such as Pikillaqta, the baroque church at Andahuaylillas, the Temple to Viracocha at Racqchi. You will Lunch at Sicuani. Afterwards, the bus will climb to the high pass of La Raya, at 4,200 meters, from there the scenery changes dramatically. Return to your hotel. Overnight in Puno. Free Night. Meals: Breakfast

In the morning, you’ll take a short boat ride to visit the Uros Islands, the famous floating reed islands of Lake Titacaca. A unique feature of this part of the lake is the traditional settlement of Uros people on floating islands made entirely of reeds-the same material they use to build their canoes. The islanders also use totora reeds to make boats, and even as food. Although fishing is still an important activity, nowadays the inhabitants earn their living mainly through selling handicrafts to tourists. After Uros, you will continue the journey to the Peninsula in Capachica Llachon community. There, you can appreciate the landscape of the area and the inhabitants, with their typical costumes and rustic houses. A family will welcome us into their house and you will have the opportunity to enjoy the culture, textiles and everyday activities. Your Lunch will be prepared by the host family. Return to Puno. After breakfast, you will take an excursion to the haunting ruins of Sillustani. It’s a giant funeral tower used during pre and Inca times to bury the wealthy, which overlooks alpaca pastures and the tranquil lagoon of Umayo. You will Lunch at local restaurant.
