OLD CENTRE CITY TOUR

Our guide will take you to the old centre and you’ll be able to see when everything began!!! We will visit the follow places: • Patio do Colegio: it is an archaeological site, which was raised the first construction of the present city of São Paulo, when Father Manuel da Nobrega and then novice José de Anchieta and other Jesuit priests at the request of Portugal and the Company Jesus established a nucleus for indigenous indoctrination purposes. • Sé Square: It is considered the geographic center of the city. In it is located the landmark monument of the city. From it come the distances of all roads departing from Sao Paulo, as well as the number of public roads in the city. Considered almost a synonym for the old centre, the square is one of the most popular areas of the city and was the scene of many important events in the history of the country, as the rally of the Direct Elections Now. STOP FOR VISITATION • Law USP School: The College of San Francisco Largo Law, as it was initially called, was created by imperial law of 11 August 1827, having been incorporated into the University of São Paulo when it’s founding in 1934. It is the oldest law school in Brazil and considered one of the best in regard to legal education. Opened a few years after the proclamation of the Independence of Brazil , was intended to form governments and public administrators , it is fundamental for the consolidation of the Empire of Brazil and the new Republic of Brazil . Over the years the institution eventually contribute to training future generations of teachers – that in different areas of science – writers , poets, historians , philosophers, economists, sociologists , artists and actors. Its weight is undeniable in training and educational and cultural development of Brazil. • Republica Square: Originally known as Largo dos Curros is one of the most traditional square in Sao Paulo. In the 19th century, “Paulistas” used to do rodeos and bullfights in this square. Built from the European urban model, the square, which is a link between the so-called ” old town ” and the ” new center ” , was chosen in 1894 as the address of Normal Caetano de Campos School building planned by Antonio Francisco Paula Sousa and Ramos Azevedo, who is currently the headquarters of the State Department of Education. In the past The square was the scene of important events of national history. Nowadays, there are street market with over 600 stalls and mainly sells handicrafts from the states of North and Northeast Brazil, as well as neighboring countries such as Peru. • Ipiranga Av: In this Avenue are symbols and postcards of the city, such as the Republic Square, Copan Building, Italia Building, among others. It has been included in song by Caetano Veloso (” Sampa “), transforming its intersection with Av. São João in the ” most famous corner of Brazil.” • Copan building: The Copan is one of the most important and emblematic buildings of the city of São Paulo. Described as having “sinuous and elegant lines”. It has 1160 apartments distributed in six blocks, is considered the largest residential building in Latin America. It was erected by Oscar Niemeyer, and is located in one of the busiest downtown São Paulo points. It is well known for its winding geometry that resembles a wave, and the superlatives numbers of their statistics. It has 115 meters high, 35 floors, two basements, and about two thousand residents. There are a commercial area on the ground floor has 72 stores and a movie theatre, the old Cine Copan. • Italia Building: This official name is Circolo Italiano is the second largest building in the city one of the largest in Brazil, with 165 meters from the street level distributed into 46 floors. Opened in 1965, it is currently one of the city’s landmarks, protected by Heritage as one of the greatest examples of Brazilian vertical architecture. One of the highlights of the building Italy is the restaurant located at the top, known as Terrace Italy, which allows a view through 360 degrees of the city, one of the biggest tourist attractions of the state capital. The market is located in the old centre and is very famous for your Mortadela Sandwiches. It occupies a building built in 1900, in the Garden of Light, and designed by Ramos de Azevedo and Domiziano Rossi to host Arts and Crafts Lyceum. It is the oldest art museum in São Paulo, founded in 1905 and regulated as state public museum since 1911. There are one of the largest and most representative collections of Brazilian art, with nearly ten thousand pieces mostly covering the history of Brazilian painting of the nineteenth and twentieth century’s. You’ll start the tour driving through some old buildings that are usually light-up at night, like the Municipal Theater & others. After, you will visit Vila Madalena. NEW CENTRE CITY TOUR

Our guide will show you the new Sao Paulo Centre, with different buildings, history and architecture. The tour will consist in visit those places: • Paulista Av: The Avenue was created in the late nineteenth century, from the desire of São Paulo to expand the city new residential areas that were not located immediately close to the busiest period centralities (old centre as Republic Square). Considered one of the main financial centres of the city, as well as one of its most distinctive sights, the avenue reveals its importance not only as an economic hub, but also as a cultural centrality and entertainment. Due the large number of corporate headquarters, banks, consulates, hotels, hospitals, such as the traditional Santa Catarina Hospital and scientific institutions such as the Pasteur Institute. Cultural: such as the MASP and educational, as the traditional St. Louis College and State School Rodrigues Alves. Paulistas call it as “NEW CENTRE” • MASP: Museum of São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand Art (better known by the acronym MASP) is one of the most important Brazilian cultural institutions. It is located at Avenida Paulista in a building designed by the Italian-Brazilian architect Lina Bo Bardi. Its famous for going over 70 meters that extends under four huge pillars, the building is considered an important example of the Brazilian Brutalism architecture and one of the most popular icons of the state capital. The MASP has the most important and comprehensive collection of Western art in Latin America and the entire southern hemisphere, which mainly relating to the Italian and French schools. It also has extensive section of Brazilian art and small groups of African and Asian art, decorative arts, archaeological pieces etc., totaling approximately 8000 pieces. The collection is listed by the Heritage Institute for National Artistic (IPHAN). There are, also, one of the largest libraries specialized in art of the country. • Trianon Park: it opened in April 1892 and was designed by French landscaper Paul Villon. The Trianon name came from the fact that, at that time, exist in the place where today is located the Museum of Art of São Paulo, opposite the park, a club with the name Trianon. The architect Ramos de Azevedo developed the project, in the administration of Duprat Baron, called the Belvedere Trianon, built in 1916 and demolished in 1957 to make way for the museum. Currently the Trianon Park has in its interior, in addition to the only remaining reserves of Atlantic forest in the region, other attractions such as the statue of the Faun Vítor Brecheret an aviary, fountains, children’s play places, becoming a leisure and relaxation retreat in the middle of the bustling Paulista Avenue. • Jardins and Nossa Senhora Church: a tour for the most traditional and one of the noblest areas of the city. Photo stop • Ibiapuera Park: The Park is the most important urban park in São Paulo. It was inaugurated on August 21, 1954 to commemorate the fourth centenary of the city. He was elected in 2015, the “best city in the world park” by the renowned British newspaper The Guardian, getting ahead of renown parks like Buttes-Chaumont, Paris, Boboli Florence, the High Line in New York, the Hampstead Heath in London and to the Park Güell, Barcelona. The park is administered by the Secretariat of the Green and Environment of the City of São Paulo, however, inside the park there are numerous museums, auditoriums, biennial and other venues run by foundations or other municipal or state departments. The park has biking and thirteen lighted courts, and trails aimed at races, walks and rest, all integrated into the cultural area. Its area is 1,584 square kilometers, and its three artificial lakes interconnected and occupy 15,700 m². • Afro Brazil Museum: it is a historical, artistic and ethnological museum, dedicated to the research, preservation and exhibition of objects related to the cultural universe of black people in Brazil. It is located in Ibirapuera Park in São Paulo, “Father Manuel da Nobrega Pavilion” – an integral building architectural ensemble of the park designed by Oscar Niemeyer in the 1950s. Opened in 2004, the Afro-Brazil Museum is a public institution, subject to the Municipal Department of Culture and managed by a civil society organization. It maintains a collection of approximately 6,000 works, including paintings, sculptures, prints, photographs, documents and ethnological pieces of Brazilian and foreign authors, produced between the fifteenth century and the present day. The collection includes various facets as religion, work, art, slavery, and recording the historical trajectory and African influences in the construction of Brazilian society. The museum also offers several cultural and educational activities, temporary exhibitions, has a Theater and a specialized library. • Assemblies Legislative: The Legislative Assembly of São Paulo or ALESP, is the state legislature representative body exercised through state representatives of the state of São Paulo. It’s famous for your architecture and monuments. Return for your Hotel.
