After breakfast you will do a full day of experiences and discover the nature around the valley of Vilcabamba. The valleys average altitude is around 1,500 meters and its highest peaks rise  3,500 meters, depending on the weather conditions this could be snow-capped mountains. The area offers lush vegetation and an attractive mild climate accompanying a high diversity of fauna. There are different options of trekking, including self-guided trails, of different lengths. After breakfast we will continue our journey to the next town – Zaruma. This picturesque small town is located in the neighboring province of Loja. One of the most interesting things about Zaruma is the fact that many of the buildings located there are constructed entirely of wood. The town is even home to one of Ecuador’s most popular wooden churches. Many of the buildings are also beautifully painted with the expert hands of the local craftsmen, making them as colorful and intriguing as the inhabitants of this area. Gold mining is one of the principal economical activities in this town, and has been a tradition passed over from one generation to another; this is also one of the tourist attractions that the town can offer. You can also enjoy an easy moderate trek up to a hill where you will have a spectacular view of the whole town and relax a bit after the excursion around the town. Overnight in Zaruma. Free Night. Early in the morning the gold mines are the place for our next visit, considered a highlight. El Sexmo Mine is located 15 minutes from the city of Zaruma. This gold mine is currently one of the main attractions of the city, as a lot of history is involved here from the colonialism time where gold was taken out and sent to the king of Spain. You will be able to visit inside the mine and experience a little of history as it no longer operates. After your excursion in Zaruma our guide will transfer you to Machala, which is the capital city of El Oro Province, and is famous for its gastronomy, overnight in Machala. Free Night. After breakfast you will start your journey to Machala. There, you will have access to a cocoa plantation where you will learn many things about the procedures of cocoa and chocolate. After this visit, you will go to Guayaquil among the Ecuadorian coast for a two hour drive. Arriving to Guayaquil, you will continue on a city tour. The city tour of Guayaquil starts at the downtown area where you can have a nice overview of the old city. Your tour will pass by Las Peñas district, located at the slopes of Santa Ana Hill. From this point, it is possible to enjoy an excellent view of the modern Malecon 2000, close of Guayas River and enjoy a fine example of original architecture in Guayaquil. At the Malecon you will visit La Rotonda, an important monument that immortalizes the meeting between generals Simon Bolivar and San Martin. After, you will see the Moorish Clock Tower and other attractive sights in the region. Finishing your tour, you will do a lovely walk in the old town through 9 de Octubre Avenue, visit the Seminario Park also known as the Iguanas and Centenario Park. Return to your hotel.
